Champlin Park Rebels softball played four games last week, beating Maple Grove, Brainard, Osseo, and Le Sueur-Henderson in the span of four days.

Champlin Park opened last week with a historic 4-3 eight-inning win over Maple Grove on May 7. As the team noted across social media the night after the game, the win marked the breaking of a curse of sorts for the Rebels. Despite many talented teams and players across the program’s history, Champlin Park had failed to beat the Crimson throughout recent history. In the decade from the 2013 to the 2023 seasons, Champlin Park lost 19 consecutive games to Maple Grove.

Now with a landmark win against one of their regional rivals, the Rebels looked to three more games last week.

The Rebels added a second win the next day, traveling to Brainard to complete a sweep across the ninth-grade, junior varsity, and varsity teams. The varsity team won 6-4.

Another full sweep came on May 9, led by a 15-0 varsity win over Osseo at home to keep the Rebels amongst the top teams in the Northwest Suburban Conference with a 9-2 record.

Champlin Park ended last week with a 7-0 win over Le Sueur-Henderson. The non-conference victory improved the Rebels overall record to 15-2. The result also extended its win streak to 12 games.

The Rebels will play three games the following week, traveling to Anoka on Tuesday, May 14, before hosting Wayzata and Chaska on Wednesday, May 15, and Thursday, May 16, respectively.
