    Falcons, Hawks, Pirates, and Rebels take on True Team meets

    Section True Team track and field meets took place across the metro last week, with Champlin Park and Park Center taking part in the 4AAA and 5AAA meets respectively on May 7, while Armstrong and Cooper taking on the 7AAA meet on May 8.

    Armstrong

    Armstrong competed in the Section 7AAA True Team meet last week, finishing in sixth in the girls varsity category with 609 points and eighth in boys varsity with 443 points.

    Caitlyn Osanai impressed in the girls 800-meter run, taking sixth with a time of 2 minutes, 19.21 seconds. Avery Cuper took 10th in the same event. Osanai also finished third in the 1600 with a time of 5:01.00. Cuper finished ninth with a time of 5:14.92. Araiya Chiaokhiao-Bowman led Armstrong in the girls 100- and 200-meter dashes, taking 14th and 12th place, respectively. Tookie Harris was Armstrong’s top finisher in the 100-meter hurdles taking fifth place. She also took sixth in the 300-meter hurdles, ahead of Mackenzie Lovejoy in seventh. Armstrong finished fifth in the 4x100 girls relay, sixth in the 4x200, and fifth in the 4x400.

    Sarahya College earned second place in the girls high jump, reaching a mark of 5 feet, 2 inches. College also took third in the long jump, reaching 17-1.25. Ava Mack and Julia Brincks took fifth and sixth in girls shot put with marks of 32-5 and 31-5.75. Mack then took second in the discus event with a mark of 119-3. Janese Fallah led Armstrong in the triple jump, earning fifth and reaching 32-2.5.

    LaVie Freeman starred in the 110-meter hurdles, taking third place with a time of 15.73. Freeman also took third in the 300-meter hurdles, now with a time of 41.48, and took 19th in the pole vault event. Reid Stanslaski led Armstrong at the boys 200, earning fifth with a time of 22.40. Andrew Brincks took 17th in the 800 with a time of 2:10.49. Griffin Schmidt, Josh Sweeney, and Benaiah Breker took 19th through 21st in the boys 1600, while Zachary Hrobak took 14th in the 3200. Armstrong’s boys relay teams finished sixth in the 4x100, third in the 4x200, and sixth in the 4x400.

    Luke Pappas earned first place in boys discus with a mark of 153-1. He also took second place in the boys shot put, reaching the mark of 49-7.50. Gabriel Hall and Dylan Gilles tied for 22nd in boys high jump. Fred Dassin earned sixth place in the long jump with a mark of 2001.5.

    Cooper

    Cooper earned ninth place in both the boys and girls varsity categories for the Section 7AAA True Team meet with 238 and 69 points, respectively, on May 8.

    Tacarie Siner and Milo Athias Finn impressed in the boys 100, tying for eighth place with a shared time of 11.42. Finn also took 10th place in the 200 meters. Akram Bahri earned 18th in the 400 with a time of 54.48. Malik Williams competed in the 110-meter hurdles, taking 15th place with a time of 17.51. Cooper’s boys relay teams finished eighth in the 4x100, seventh in the 4x200 and ninth in the 4x400.

    In the field, Rassan Alexander impressed for Cooper, taking fourth in the boys triple jump with a mark of 40-08.75. Aaron Giguere, Savion Gayden, and Lowell Grosslein took 23rd, 24th, and 26th place in the boys shot put respectively. Gayden also took 24th in discus, joined by Christian Astorga and Chad Hill in 26th and 27th. Lyfe Martin led Cooper in the boys long jump, reaching a mark of 18-11.5.

    Attoria McDonald earned 16th in the girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 18.05. Folake Olusesi and Amy Diouf earned 23rd and 26th in girls shot put, while Diouf took 18th in discus with a mark of 71-08. Olusesi earned 22nd in that event. Princess Nyarkoh took 22nd in the high jump with a mark of 4-2. Elija Huff and Nyarkoh earned 24th and 25th respectively for long jumping.

    Champlin Park

    Champlin Park track and field competed in the Section 4AAA True Team meet on May 7, finishing seventh in girls varsity with 595.5 points and fourth in boys varsity with 763.5 points.

    In the girls 100 meters, Jayi Wilson led the way for the Rebels with a second-place finish and time of 12.65. Makayla Shipman also impressed, taking third in the 200 with a time of 25.74. Olivia Osonowo earned third place in the 400, completing a time of 59.23. Abigail Hibbs continued an impressive run of place finishes, taking first in the girls 3200 with a time of 11:21.49. Grace Baker got it done in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, taking sixth and seventh place in the respective events.

    The Champlin Park girls relay teams for the 4x100 and 4x200 relays finished in first with times of 49.14 and 1:43.41 respectively. In the field, Wilson earned an impressive first-place finish in the girls long jump with a mark of 17-2.25.

    Aaron Briggs led the Rebels in the boys 100 with a ninth-place finish and time of 11.62. He also took 10th in the 200 with a time of 23.20. Alvin Thomas finished fourth in the same event with a time of 22.81. Thomas continued to thrive, finishing second in the 400 with a time of 50.55. Benjamin Lapcinski took seventh in that event with a time of 52.00.

    Salman Mohamed and William Maher earned fourth and seventh place in the 800 meters with times of 1:59.74 and 2:04.13 respectively. Mohamed also took seventh in the 1600, while Logan Martinez earned 10th. Charles Hibbs shined with a second-place finish in the 3200 with a time of 9:37.49. The boys 4x200 relay team took fifth place with a time of 1:33.37, while the 4x800 team finished in fourth place with a time of 8:42.60.

    Thenic Yantambwe led the Champlin Park boys in the field with a first-place finish in the long jump, reaching a mark of 21-9.75. Michael Bruggers took second in boys shot put with a mark of 49-8.25, while Isaiah Wright took fourth and Nicolas Joseph took sixth. Bruggers also earned fourth in discus. Ashton Kapitzke tied for sixth place in the boys high jump event, while Zachary Mayo earned seventh in pole vaulting.

    Park Center

    Park Center track and field took on the Section 5AAA True Team meet on May 7, earning 90 points in the boys varsity events and 389.5 in the girls varsity events.

    Shynika Chatman led Park Center in the girls 100, finishing third with a time of 13.11. Shamere Chatman finished 10th in the 100 and also took sixth in the 200 meters. Crystal Nehwah earned 11th in the 200. Mckenna Egerstrom was Park Center’s top finisher in the 400, earning 23rd place. Egerstrom later also earned 13th in the pole vault with a height of 6-11.75.

    Claire Nelson earned eighth in the girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.61. She also took fourth in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 49.39, while Maya Woods took third with a time of 48.57.

    Park Center girls relay teams earned third in the 4x100 relay with a time of 51.36 and seventh in the 4x200 relay with a time of 1:54.92.

    Shynika Chatman took first in the girls long jump with a mark of 17-11.75. Jaliyah Diggs took 11th in that event. Breanna Benjamin took first in the triple jump with a distance of 36-5. Armani Brewer-Meehan took ninth in the girls shot put with a mark of 32-4. Manuella Adokpo took 12th in girls discus with a mark of 83-9.75.

    Blake Beaver finished 14th in the boys 1600 with a time of 4:45.65. Trevion Perdue took 22nd in the boys 100 with a time of 12.67. He also finished 26th in the 200 meters with a time of 26.05. Prince Axel-Assogba earned 22nd in that event with a time of 25.28. Cody Warner and Finn Kinart took 24th and 25th in the 400 with times of 1:06.69 and 1:09.16. Jack Janowak, Connor Verkuilen, and Dileyta Arba earned 25th, 26th, and 27th in the 800 meters. Jakob Browers, Kinart, and Michael Eriksen took 25th, 26th, and 27th in the boys 3200 meters.

    The boys 4x200 relay team of Perdue, Leroy Saye, Andre Nelson, and Emmanuel Brown took ninth with a time of 1:46.32. The Pirates also took ninth in the 4x400 boys relay with a time of 3:58.09.

    Isaac Ondeyo led Park Center in boys shotput with a 16th-place finish and mark of 39-1.75. Dakagar Johnson took 25th place. Johnson also took 23rd in the discus. Jordan Wade and Matthew Campbell took 24th and 27th in the boys long jump.
