The Champlin Park LoGators town ball baseball team played four games last week in a rapid fire run of success that saw the team beat Cono Rapids, the Minneapolis Angels and the Andover Aces.

    NW Orioles

The LoGators traveled to nearby neighbors NW Orioles on July 8 in a quiet 1-0 loss at Osseo Senior High. On a day where Champlin struggled to find hits, Jack Puder and Ero Mocchi got the LoGators two, while Connor Nygard pitched a complete game and earned five strikeouts against the Orioles, only narrowly beaten with the hosts’ one run.

    Coon Rapids

A nail-biter went the LoGators way on July 9 as they beat the Coon Rapids Redbirds 6-5 to improve to 1-1 on the week. Tyler Reichenborn continued a strong season for Champlin Park, hitting a home run and ending the game with two RBI. He went 3-for-5. Sam Riola was also impressive against Coon Rapids, scoring three runs and stealing a base while working hard at second base as well.

    Angels

The wins kept coming on July 11 when the LoGators traveled to play the Minneapolis Angels at Parade Stadium in a 5-2 victory. It was the team’s first game at Parade Stadium, home to the Augsburg baseball team and several Minneapolis-area summer teams. Riola starred with three RBI and two runs scored against the Angels. Tyler Horning also had two hits. Louis Walker led from the hill at Parade, pitching six innings and earning four kills.

    Andover

The LoGators continued to thrive last week with an 11-3 win over the Andover Aces on the road on July 13. Luke Ryerse hit a home run against Andover, scoring three runs and hitting three RBI overall in his town ball debut. Andover personnel later stated the home run reached the farm behind Andover High School. Mocchi also notably had three RBI against Andover.

The LoGators will play four games the following week, hosting the Anoka Bucs and Centennial Cougars on July 15 and 16, after this edition went to press, before traveling to the Hamel Hawks and hosting the Forest Lake Brewers on Thursday, July 18, and Friday, July 19.
