Champlin Mayor Ryan Sabas read a special presentation recognizing Champlin Women of Today at the July 8th Champlin City Council meeting.

The Minnesota Women of Today is an organization with over 900 members in 49 communities. They focus on community service efforts.

“The Minnesota Women of Today and the Champlin Women of Today are dedicated to actively promoting such public awareness and service programs as REACH Program for Youth, True Friends, and Relay for Life, as well as Cross Food Shelf, Alexandria House, local senior citizen centers, donations to Champlin Park High School for mobile students, and fundraising for civic and charitable organizations,” read Sabas.

He officially acknowledged their efforts and contributions, and the council took a group photo with Women of Today members.

    Feasibility studies

The City Council also approved resolutions to order feasibility studies for two improvement projects.

The first project is the Goose Lake Parkway and Elm Creek Trail Project, which will fix wear and tear from traffic.

There will be considerations for stormwater treatment on site, replacing sidewalk panels, and manhole and water main inspections.

“The existing conditions, proposed improvements, estimated project cost, project schedule, and preliminary assessment roll will be identified in the feasibility report. The required public improvement hearing will be completed with this phase of the project,” said the council memo.

The second project is the Jefferson Highway and Elm Creek Parkway and Signals Project, which is part of Champlin’s Capital Improvement Program.

Recommended street improvements will include pavement coring, soil borings, and geotechnical evaluation. There may also be signal improvements at White Oaks Trail and Elm Creek Parkway.
