Knight track champs honored by Chandler school board

The first Arizona College Prep High School track and field athletes to win a divisional title were honored at the May 8 Chandler Unified School District Governing Board meeting.

The Knights’ 4-by-100 meter relay team finished in 48.54 seconds on May 4 in the Division III finals to place first, about a half-second ahead of runners-up Prescott.

The board and ACP coaches recognized the quartet of sophomore Madisyn Atchison, sophomore Amerah Richardson, senior Brianna Searcy and sophomore Mckenna Brown who won at the D-III meet.

The squad helped the Knights place third in the Division III meet in girls team scoring.

Competing in the state’s Open Championships on May 7, ACP was one of only two Division III schools represented.
