Chandler state-champ tennis teams honored

Arizona College Prep was fortunate to have the high school’s girls and boys tennis teams both win their first team state titles in the same year when they triumphed early last month.

The teams were honored and unfurled their state championship banners at the May meeting of the Chandler Unified School District Governing Board.

The ACP girls went undefeated (18-0) and battled a Notre Dame Prep team with a long tradition of state-level excellence in the Division II final, 5-3.

The Knight boys went 16-1 and blanked another team historically strong in tennis — Salpointe Catholic — 5-0 in the Division II final.

Boys coach Matt Tully and girls coach Debi Stahl were on hand to praise the student-athletes and the parent support that helped the teams succeed. Some 2024 singles and doubles accomplishments were mentioned as well.

Next year, the Knight teams will compete in Division I.
