A&W returns to Valley -- into a Chandler Walmart

A&W is back in the Valley and has opened a location inside Walmart Supercenter near the northwest corner of Gilbert and Germann roads in Chandler.

The only Valley location of the now nearly 100-year-old chain still serves the classic Papa Burger and some of its derivatives, but other favorites have been replaced. A French-onion double cheeseburger is now the featured sandwich.

Of course, made-fresh root beer is still what A&W hangs its hat on. That means the Kentucky-based chain still has the signature root beer float, along with other floats and sweet treats, chicken, hot dogs, kids’ meals and sides that include cheese curds and onion rings.

The hours are 10 a.m.-10 p.m., seven days per week.
