Chandler: More than $2M to nonprofits this year

The Chandler City Council recently approved a total allocation of $2.083 million to more than a dozen local nonprofits.

The approval, made as a result of council OKing its June 27 consent agenda, ends a process that included a late spring work session. That council work session is where city staff detailed the need for both a significant dollar increase for the 2024-25 grant cycle and changes to the evaluation and decision process.

The funds were authorized under the guidance and recommendations from Chandler’s Housing and Human Services Commission, the city said in a news release. They were identified by priorities from a previous community needs assessment.

Also, more than $25,000 in contributions made by Chandler residents through utility bill donations are part of the allocated amount.

Descriptions of each organization’s program that received funding are available online at “Chandler Human Services Funds.”
