A 19-year-old man has been indicted on two counts of attempted murder in the May 13 shooting of his parents in Chandler.

Jeremiah Estel Blair’s trial is scheduled for September, and he remains in custody on a $750,000 secured appearance bond, according to a release from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office.

The shooting occurred in a neighborhood near Chandler Heights and McQueen roads, authorities said.

“Before the shooting, the defendant set up a camera to record the incident and even stopped to record the blood left behind,” the MCAO release stated.

“When questioned by police, Blair said he had been planning to kill his parents for years and had even considered doing so on Mother’s Day.”

Family members interviewed by police revealed Blair suffers from a mental health illness, according to the release.

“We can never truly know what causes a son to attempt to end the lives of the people who raised him, but we can certainly agree it is a heinous act,” Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell said. “Our job now is to hold him accountable.”
