FedEx recently donated a “mobile canteen” to the Emergency Disaster Services vehicle fleet of The Salvation Army’s Southwest Division.

The division is based in Phoenix and serves Arizona, New Mexico and Southern Nevada.

On hand for the ribbon-cutting were FedEx District Sales Manager Chad Behymer; Major Charles Fowler, The Salvation Army Southwest Divisional commander; Chandler City Council member Jane Poston and other FedEx and Salvation Army leaders.

The donation is the 24th mobile canteen FedEx has donated across the U.S. and around the world since 2006, according to a news release. The “canteen” is a van that Fowler anticipates the Salvation Army will be able to use to deliver and serve about 1,200 meals per day as one of the organization’s relief programs.

“My prayer is that, when this canteen comes rolling into a neighborhood, people will see more than the iconic red shield,” Fowler said in the release. “They will see beyond their situation and get a glimpse of a better tomorrow.”
