The 28 th annual Native American Day celebration is set to be held at The Door Church in Chandler.

Native Americans and the public are invited to attend special services Sunday, Oct.  13, 11: a.m., at The Door Church, 585 E. Frye Road, Chandler. The event is free to all.

The services will feature international evangelist and Navajo Nation pastor Artie Aragon of Chinle. Aragon has ministered on the Navajo reservation for more than 30 years. He will also be speaking that evening at 6:30 pm.

Aragon will be accompanied by the Navajo Nation choir and will be part of the Sunday morning service.

Indian fry bread will be served following the service.

For the congregation of The Door Church, this annual event is a celebration of community and a demonstration of the church’s broad diversity. The church has a sizeable group of Native Americans from several different nations.

This event grew out of a concern within the congregation for those displaced Native people living in the Valley that frequently were underserved in many churches.

The church is active in reaching out to the Salt River, Pima, Yaqui and other local reservation communities.

Additional information about the services and other activities can be obtained by calling 480-917-7200 or by going to the church’s website, found here .
