Crews battling 'out of control' grass fire on CR 1140 in Smith County
SMITH COUNTY, Texas — Crews are responding to an "out of control" grass fire on County Road 1140. Officials from Smith County Emergency District 2 confirmed that a fire broke out in a wooded area near 14104 County Road 1140 and Oak Springs Road around 2:32 p.m. Nikki Simmons with SCESD2 said that the fire is approaching a nearby structure as well as woods. FORT WORTH, Texas — At least one person was arrested overnight after robbery suspects kidnapped a Fort Worth girl and led officers on a chase, police said. The Fort Worth Police Department (FWPD) said two men entered a home at approximately 2:07 a.m. Friday in the 6700 block of Golden Grove Road, near Chisolm Trail and took a girl at gunpoint. Two vehicles were taken from the residence, police said.
