5 shot and officer injured outside of Dallas gas station, police say
DALLAS — Five people were shot and taken to the hospital after an overnight shooting outside of a Texaco gas station in southern Dallas, police said Saturday. The Dallas Police Department (DPD) said officers responded at approximately 4:30 a.m. Saturday to the 100 block of West Laureland Road for a shooting call. When officers got to the scene, they found five people had been shot outside of a business, police said. DPD had crime scene tape around the Texaco gas station in that area, which is located at the corner of I-35E frontage road and Laureland Road.

In a novel move, four North Texas colleges signed an agreement to help students get their bachelor’s degree with less debt. Leaders from Dallas College, the University of North Texas at Dallas, Texas A&M-Commerce and Texas Woman’s University inked the Dallas Transfer Collaborative on Thursday afternoon, a move they said will get students who transfer from Dallas College into select programs at any of the three universities and across the graduation stage faster.

DALLAS — Dallas Fire-Rescue crews extinguished a fire at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in southeast Dallas Friday afternoon.
