A Chanhassen teen was taken into custody Friday evening after allegedly making threats against and assaulting another teen, according to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a report of two teens fighting at a residence in Chanhassen. According to the report, a 14-year-old girl allegedly had a knife and was threatening to stab a 15-year-old boy.

When deputies arrived, they learned the boy had locked himself into a room for safety, according to the sheriff’s office. The girl then proceeded to barricade herself in a bedroom, and deputies attempted to negotiate with the teen for around 40 minutes, after the other residents – including the alleged victim – were safely escorted from the building.

According to the sheriff’s office, the girl opened the bedroom door at one point, but refused to comply with deputies’ commands. Deputies proceeded to saturate the room with pepper balls – a non-lethal projectile that releases pepper-spray. The teen girl then exited the bedroom as was taken into custody without further incident, according to the sheriff’s office.

The girl was taken to 212 Medical Center for medical evaluation, after which she was taken to the Carver County Juvenile Detention facility where she is being held until her court appearance, according to the sheriff’s office.

The teen faces preliminary charges of 2nd degree assault, threats of violence, and domestic assault according to the sheriff’s office.
