Illinois awarded $430M grant from EPA to reduce climate pollution
CHICAGO, Ill. (WTVO) — The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded Illinois $430,251,378 from the Climate Pollution Reduction Grant to fund projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. OPPD Workers Return From Helping Utilities In Iowa/Illinois
The Omaha Public Power District crews that went to Iowa and Illinois to assist with power restoration efforts after damaging storms are returning home to Nebraska. OPPD officials say that 17 employees were dispatched to Iowa and Illinois after thousands of people lost electricity following a derecho earlier this month. Officials say mutual aid is about utilities helping utilities restore power to customers.

(SPRINGFIELD) Governor J.B. Pritzker signed 68 more bills into law this past Friday. One of the four measures that take effect January 1st, 2025, is House Bill 5457 prevents professional license denial or disciplinary action against someone based solely on immigration status or an immigration violation. House Bill 5465 allows human trafficking victims, who were children at the time of the crime, to have their juvenile records expunged or sealed of any criminal acts they were forced to take part in while being abused. House Bill 5370 expands the state’s “Move Over Law” requiring drivers to reduce their speed in & around emergency crash scenes. House Bill 5238 requires newly built manufactured homes to have weather radios installed, plus also promotes regular maintenance of safety devices in mobile home communities. Stolen Vehicle Leads To Police Chase Along I-80
A police chase on Sunday night ended with arrest of an 18 year old who allegedly stole a vehicle in Warrenville. On Sunday, July 21st at 9:33 p.m. Will County Sheriff Deputies located a stolen blue Hyundai sedan near the area of Midland and Jefferson. The vehicle was stolen in Warrenville earlier that morning by suspects that were armed with handguns.

No Injuries in Peotone Structural Fire
The Manhattan Fire Protection District was called to a structural fire that required a full-still additional personnel activation in Peotone on July 10. The fire, which occurred at a West Street residence within Peotone village limits, was contained to the kitchen and extinguished within 15 minutes. No injuries were reported.
