    Gov. Evers signs off on the reconstruction of US Highway 12

    MADISON, Wis -- The Wisconsin Department of Transportation announced on Friday, Gov. Tony Evers signed a $2.2 million contract to reconstruct U.S. Highway 12.

    The construction will take place between the North Sauk County Line and Wisconsin Highway 13 in the Wisconsin Dells in Sauk County. The work is expected to begin on Monday.

    The project construction will be in two stages. Stage one will work between County A, Fitzgerald Road and Highway 13. Stage two will work between the Sauk County line and County A.

    Improvements include road replacement, a new curb, gutter and sidewalk, the addition of alert strips and permanent signing.

    During construction, Highway 12 will remain closed while Highway 13 and Interstate 90 and 94 will remain open. Access across Highway 12 at the Fitzgerald Road and County A intersection will remain open.

    The project is expected to be completed by mid-July
