UW-Whitewater wins NCAA Regional after 6-4 victory

WHITEWATER, Wis. -- The UW-Whitewater baseball team scored four runs in the seventh to beat Centre College 6-4 in Sunday's NCAA Regional Final.

The Warhawks got on the board first after junior OF Sam Paden hit a sacrifice fly.

The Colonels responded with a two-run RBI single by senior Jamie Laframboise to take a 2-1 advantage.

Paden knotted things up again with an RBI single to knot the score at 2-2.

Centre scored twice in the top of the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.

Whitewater scored four times in the bottom of the seventh capped off by a three-run home run by junior OF Matt Scolan.

Freshman P Jack Hagen closed the game out by retiring the side and notching his first save.

Sophomore P Cade Hansen was credited with the win.

The Warhawks will await the outcome of the La Crosse Regional. The Warhawks will face eiter UW-Lacrosse or Coe College. Times and locations will be announced Monday.
