Editor's Pick: A Map Mosaic

This cartographer/designer turns the outlines of Madison’s isthmus into art. Some of Stephen Kennedy’s maps display data (like one showing employment density and another that plots farm and farmers’ market locations) while others are just about the visuals (one map turns Madison’s lakes into islands and the isthmus into a waterway). The map shown here is a visual art/data combination — it features hand-cut and -pasted letters that spell out Madison’s neighborhoods, creating the shape of the isthmus.
