MADISON, Wis. -- The Madison Parks Foundation, in partnership with Madison Parks, announced Friday it will celebrate the 130-year anniversary of the Madison Park and Pleasure Drive Association.

The MPF said the MPPDA was responsible for the formation of the Madison Parks System, and started with the dream of making parkland and the lakes accessible to all. After lots of time, talents, and resources, Madison became a city where everyone could enjoy greenspace and natural areas.

To secure ongoing access and improvements to the parks, the MPF said it will unveil the new "Parks For All Trust" foundation at the 130-year anniversary celebration. The main purpose of the trust will be to generate more use of Madison parks by supporting programming, capital projects, and the development of other enhancements to the park that drive inclusivity and access.

The MPF said the PFAT is essentially a modern-day version of the 100-year-old "Olin Trust," and will allow multiple donors to contribute to the parks. The trust will not be funded by tax dollars.
