• ALERT DAY Tuesday for more dangerous heat
• Severe weather possible Tuesday afternoon and evening
• Cooler for Labor Day Weekend

PLANNING THE NE X T 24 HOURS: All overnight storms stayed well north of Madison. A few spotty morning showers are possible, if this happens it could limit as high of heat index values and temperatures compared to yesterday. Therefore, cloud cover and a morning storm threat will both play a huge role in how hot we get today, but nonetheless, it is still going to be dangerously hot. An Excessive Heat Warning will be in place for most of the area from 11am-7pm Tuesday. Be sure to continue to take proper precautions with the heat. A chance of severe storms also remains in the forecast through Tuesday evening. Very large hail and strong winds would be the main threats, though there is also a small isolated tornado threat. Dew points remain at unbearable levels through Tuesday.

EXTENDED FORECA ST : The cold front passes and cools temperatures back into the 80s starting Wednesday. A weather system later Wednesday, lasting through Thursday night brings the next potential for showers and thunderstorms, with the best chance for rain Thursday night. Labor Day Weekend is looking dry and seasonably warm. On Labor Day, Monday, temperatures will fall slightly below normal, into the lower to mid 70s.
