MADISON, Wis. -- An inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution in Oxford was sentenced Thursday after prosecutors said he worked with his mother to smuggle drugs into prison.

James Mallet, 40, previously of Minneapolis was sentenced to two years in federal prison for possessing contraband in prison. The sentence will run consecutive to he one he is already serving.

Prosecutors said Mallett's mother, 60-year-old Imogene Lawson of Chicago, passed 60 strips of buprenorphine/suboxone as well as some synthetic marijuana to Mallett while in a visiting room.

Lawson pleaded guilty in April to charges of providing contraband to an inmate and was sentenced on July 24 to three years of probation. Mallet pleaded guilty on May 13.
