MADISON, Wis. -- Students in the Madison area are invited to the 16th annual "Back 2 School Haircutz" event on Aug. 25, where JP Hair Design, Inc. will provide students with free haircuts just in time for the start of school.

JP said in a press release Wednesday it will provide free haircuts, by appointment only, to students in grades K-12 for the back-to-school season. The event will also offer immunizations, provide beverages, and include a selection of free books donated by the Madison Metropolitan School District.

Barbers at the event will only provide basic haircuts, said JP. That includes even cuts, fades, afros, mohawks, tapers, and hairlines. No hair designs will be offered.

JP said the event will also feature music by DJ Marah, solidifying its mission to give back to youth in the Madison community through programs and events that focus on mental, physical, and emotional well-being.

JP said all proceeds from the event will benefit the Taylor “Smitty” Smith Barber/Cosmetology Apprenticeship Scholarship, which provides $2,500 for tuition, equipment, and state board exam fees for each recipient.

The event will be held at the Alliant Energy Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Schedule an appointment online or call (608) 446-8022.
