MADISON, Wis. -- Project Hero announced Friday that wounded veterans, first responders, and supporters of the Project Hero 2024 Great Lakes Challenge will complete their journey Aug. 23 in Madison.

Project Hero said the Great Lakes Challenge is a 400+ mile non-competitive, rehabilitation bike ride starting in St. Paul, Minnesota and finishing in Madison, Wisconsin. This year, riders will travel with an American flag that has flown over the United States Capitol in D.C.

Riding through historic sites, civic centers, and local attractions, Project Hero said wounded v eterans will ride as a patriotic peloton of hand cycles, recumbent cycles, and traditional bikes. Local veteran s and first responders can also ride on a single-day basis, and the public is invited to support the cyclists along the ride routes, rest stops, lunch stops, and hotels.

Project Hero said the riders will arrive in Madison on Aug. 23 at approximately 2:30 p.m., followed by a ride brief at 8:30 a.m. the next day. For more information, visit www.weareprojecthero.org .
