Tenant Resource Center rolls out eviction map

MADISON, Wis. -- A local housing organization rolled out a tool to help foster positive connections between landlords and tenants.

The Tenant Resource Center released the interactive eviction map which will help uncover where tenants face eviction and which communities are most frequently targeted by landlords.

Renters, neighbors, and legislators can use the maps' data visualizations to understand eviction in their communities and target resources to prevent it.

The interactive map displays a number of metrics for understanding eviction in the county. The map can display both the number of eviction filings in a community since 2021 and the eviction filing rate which shows the communities disproportionately face eviction.

The map is designed so that comparisons can be made across neighborhoods.

The Tenant Resource Center said landlords evict low-income and non-white renters at higher rates so the map includes a "heat map" overlay for a community's poverty rate as well as racial demographics for each census block.
