PLANNING THE NE X T 24 HOURS: The best chance of severe storms remains well northwest of Madison Sunday, through a few isolated storms cannot be ruled out Sunday afternoon and evening as temperatures warm into the upper 80s with peak heating of the day. A few areas could top out at 90. Heat index values Sunday afternoon will be in the mid to upper 90s. Sunday night temperatures will only fall into the lower to mid 70s.

EXTENDED FORECA ST : The real heat and humidity arrive by Monday, as temperatures climb into the lower to mid 90s with triple digit heat index values (what it will feel like). These same conditions are expected on Tuesday. There is an Excessive Heat Warning that will be in effect 1-8pm Monday for most of the area (Madison and west) and a Heat Advisory eastward of Madison. Additionally, there's a conditional threat for severe weather Monday night and Tuesday night however, temperatures may simply be too hot for too long during the day and we may miss the severe weather. After that, temperatures gradually cool back into the 80s then further into the 70s by Labor Day.
