Home in Bristol a total loss after residential fire

UPDATE: The home in Bristol is a total loss after a structure fire early Thursday morning.

The fire occurred at 2042 Branch Road/Elder Lane at 1:55 a.m. Dane County Sheriff's Deputies, along with Sun Prairie, Columbus, Madison, and Dane Fire Departments were on scene.

Sun Prairie fire said the main fire was in kitchen, living area, roof and attic space. Fire crews were able to get the fire under control and protect exposures.

Fire officials said the house was fully engulfed, but vacant.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

No injuries were reported and fire damage is estimated at $250,000-$275,000.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office says responders were called to a home on Branch Road in Bristol, northeast of Sun Prairie, at 1:49 a.m.

Dispatch said crews are still on scene.

There were no initial reports of specific damage.

The Dane County Sheriff's Office and Sun Prairie Fire Department responded.
