DANE COUNTY, Wis. -- U.S. Senator Tammy Baldwin announced Friday that with her support, Dane County has been awarded federal funding to build a network of publicly accessible electric vehicle charging stations.

Baldwin said the network will help give more Wisconsinites transportation options, support the "Made in Wisconsin" economy, and reduce emissions to boost the health of residents. Dane County will receive $13.2 million to install 92 Level 2 and DC Fast Charging EV stations with a total of 368 publicly accessible ports. The funding will bring EV charging to high-density urban and suburban areas, as well as rural areas, while eliminating gaps in charging availability.

In addition to pushing the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to support this project, Baldwin said the investment is funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law through FHWA’s Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program. The network helps ensure that American workers and American products are used while infrastructure is built to provide Wisconsinites with more ways to travel around the state.
