Eight displaced in Madison duplex fire

MADISON, Wis. --  The Madison Fire Department is looking into what caused a duplex fire on the city's south side late on Friday night. MFD says eight people from two households are displaced as a result of the fire.

According to an incident report from MFD, the department was called to 2920 Turbot Dr to reports of a duplex fire. They arrived to find heavy fire coming from the front door, additional fire was found on the back side of the building which spread to the second floor.

MFD reports that all occupants safely evacuated including one dog.

The side of the building where the fire started suffered major damage to both floors, while the next door unit was impacted by smoke and shutdown of utilities.

Additionally, MFD says the American Red Cross has responded to help out the displaced occupants.
