MADISON, Wis. -- Special Olympics USA announced Tuesday Madison native Annie Mulligan will compete at the Special Olympics World Winter Games Turin 2025, representing Special Olympics Wisconsin in Snowshoe Racing.

Special Olympics USA said Mulligan has been involved with Special Olympics for more than 10 years, and participates in basketball, bocce, snowshoeing, swimming and tennis. She is a part of Badgers for Special Olympics, a unified group with the University of Wisconsin. Additionally, she is a Global Messenger and has served as the emcee at her state program’s Summer Games, along with speaking at other events.

Prior to the Turin 2025 Winter Games, Special Olympics USA said Mulligan earned a gold medal in swimming at the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games. She loves playing and watching sports, meeting new people, and cheering on the Badgers. Outside of athletics, Mulligan works full-time at a local hospital.

The Special Olympics World Winter Games Turin 2025 will take place from March 8-16, 2025, gathering over 1,500 athletes from 103 countries to compete in eight winter sports, showcase the determination of people with intellectual disabilities, and highlight the power of inclusion through sport. Special Olympics USA said Mulligan is staying active to prepare for Italy and is excited to share the experience with athletes from around the world.
