MADISON, Wis. -- Blain's Farm & Fleet announced Wednesday it will once again provide necessary support and resources for raising backyard chickens during its Annual Fall Chick Days.

Blain's Farm & Fleet said raising backyard chickens can be a rewarding experience that offers many benefits, including fresh, home-grown eggs, while fostering a connection with nature. The Annual Fall Chick Days aim to assist both seasoned chicken keepers and those new to the hobby with the resources and support they need to raise the birds.

On Sept. 6, Blain's Farm & Fleet said it will sell a variety of Cornish Cross and egg-laying hens, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Representatives will be able to discuss tips for caring for baby chicks, chicken coop basics, choosing the right bedding, selecting the correct chicken feeder and waterer, and winter chicken care.

Blain's Farm & Fleet said all its stores will sell the hens, except for the Oak Creek location, due to local restrictions.
