ALERT DAY high heat and severe weather chances into Tuesday - Alex

WHAT WE'RE TRACKING :

• ALERT DAYS: Monday and Tuesday for dangerous heat
• Evening severe chances Monday and Tuesday
• Cooler for Labor Day

PLANNING THE NE X T 24 HOURS: Uncomfortable warmth and humidity will continue through the night. Overnight low temperatures will stay very muggy, possibly not falling below the middle 70s in some areas. There is slight chance of storms overnight, although the better chances for widespread storms look to stay north and west of southern Wisconsin. If we have morning storms or clouds early Tuesday, that may limit the heat some, although it will stay very humid through Tuesday evening. There is a better chance for severe weather across  southern Wisconsin Tuesday late afternoon into the evening. A weak cold front moving into the area through Tuesday evening will bring the threat for severe thunderstorms, too. Strong winds, large hail and heavy rain would be the main threats if storms form.

EXTENDED FORECA ST : The cold front passes and cools temperatures back into the 80s starting Wednesday. A weather system later Wednesday, lasting through Thursday night brings the next potential for showers and thunderstorms, with the best chance for rain Thursday night. The Labor Day weekend is looking dry and seasonably warm.
