MADISON, Wis. -- With the school year in full swing, Public Health Madison & Dane County is reminding parents to stay up-to-date on their child's immunizations.

PHMDC in partnership with SSM Health, UW Health, MMSD, Verona Area School District and Group Health Cooperative are offering free vaccines at Madison area clinics.

All vaccines that are required for school will be available, including meningitis and pertussis as well as COVID-19, and flu. The vaccines are free for school-aged kids 5 and older. Appointments are strongly recommended and can be scheduled online.

The clinics will be held at the following locations:

    • Monday, Oct 7: Mendota Elementary School (4002 School Rd, Madison) noon to 4.
    • Monday, Oct 14: Leopold Elementary School (2602 Post Rd, Madison) 4 pm-7
    • Monday, Oct 15: Sugar Creek Elementary School (740 N Main St, Verona) 4pm-7
    • Saturday, Oct 19: Holtzman Learning Center (333 Holtzman Rd, Madison) 10 am-2pm.
    • Monday, Oct 21: Holtzman Learning Center (333 Holtzman Rd, Madison) 8am-noon
    • Saturday, Oct 26-Savanna Oaks Middle School (5980 Lacy Rd, Fitchburg) noon-4.

PHMDC said it can vaccinate at school clinics if parents do not have insurance, the child is under 19 years of age, and are Alaskan Native, American Indian or have BadgerCare, Quartz, GHC or Dean Insurance. Children can still receive childhood vaccines for free through the Vaccines for Children Program.

A full list of required K-12 immunizations can be found on the Wisconsin Department of Health Services website.
