MADISON, Wis. -- A man has pled guilty to a Memorial Day shooting last year.

Dawaun Hugger, 21, pled guilty to attempted first-degree intentional homicide and misdemeanor bail jumping in which one of the victims was shot multiple times online court records allege.

The Fitchburg Police Department said Hugger was one of the people who fired a gun during the incident. He was also one of three people shot after the fight escalated. An 18-year-old and 22-year-old were also injured in the shooting, which happened in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 2100 block of High Ridge Trail.

According to court records obtained by News 3 Now, the altercation started with an argument-turned-fight between Hugger and his two brothers then between Hugger and a third man.

A woman who witnessed the fight--the shooting victim's mother told police she saw Hugger walk to a nearby vehicle when he pulled out a handgun before walking towards her son and shooting at him, hitting the man once in the shoulder. The criminal complained filed against Hugger alleges he then walked towards the victim and fired several more times while standing over the man.

The sentencing hearing for Hugger will be scheduled at a later date.
