Mets Alonso hits 3-run HR in the ninth to eliminate the Brewers to advance to the NLDS

MILWAUKEE, Wis. -- Mets first baseman Pete Alonso hit a three-run home run off closer Devin Williams in the 9th inning to give the Mets a 3-2 lead.

New York added a run in the ninth to essentially put the game out of reach.

Brewers RHP Tobias Myers had a solid outing going five innings, allowing two hits and striking out eight.

Milwaukee sleeping offense woke up in the bottom of the 7th on back-to-back homers from pinch-hitter Jake Bauers and Sal Frelick.

Trevor Megill, Nick Mears, and Freddy Peralta kept the Mets offense at bay, as they each didn't allow a hit in their inning of work.

New York is moving onto its first NLDS appearance since 2015 where the team advanced to the World Series, losing to the Royals in five games
