    Woman in critical condition after being shot by a Walworth County Deputy Sheriff

    EAST TROY, Wis. -- A woman is in critical condition after being shot by a Walworth County Deputy Sheriff Monday afternoon in East Troy.

    The Walworth County Sheriff's Office said at 3:44 p.m. on Wilmers Grove Road a male caller stated he was being attacked by a female with a razor blade.

    Upon arrival, law enforcement confirmed the suspect had allegedly cut the caller with a razor blade. The woman allegedly exited the home through a window armed with a knife.

    The woman was reportedly asked by law enforcement to drop the weapon and she allegedly advanced towards officers and a Walworth County Deputy Sheriff discharged their rifle.

    Law enforcement and East Troy Fire and Rescue immediately administered life-saving medical aid to the woman who was transported to a local hospital. The caller was treated on scene for non-life-threatening injuries. A third resident in the home was unarmed.

    The suspect remains in custody and the following charges are being referred to the Walworth County District Attorney's Office

    • 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety while armed
    • Disorderly conduct while armed
    • Felony intimidation of a victim

    The Waukesha County Sheriff's Office is investigating and there is no threat to the public.

    A Walworth County Sheriff's Deputy has been placed on administrative leave.
