MADISON, Wis. -- Madison police arrested a 17-year-old downtown Sunday night after what they called an "incident involving a firearm."

Officers were called to the 400 block of West Wilson Street at around 11:20 p.m. After forming a perimeter, police saw a person matching a suspect description exit an apartment building and detained him.

Police said he gave officers a false name and was found with a loaded gun and marijuana.

The teen faces charges of second-degree recklessly endangering safety, disorderly conduct while armed, intentionally pointing a firearm at another person, resisting, obstructing, possession of THC, carrying a concealed weapon and felony bail jumping.

News 3 Now is not naming the suspect at this time as part of a policy not to name people accused of crimes until they have been formally charged in court. Click here to learn more about the policy . He is currently being held in the Dane County Jail.
