Cottage Grove firefighters respond to hay bale fire

COTTAGE GROVE, Wis. -- The Cottage Grove Fire Department responded to a hay bale fire early Thursday.

Crews were called to a location on Koshkonong Road south of Exit 147 off I-90. The call came in at 1:29 a.m.

Stoughton Fire Chief Joshua Ripp said there were no injuries, and no structures caught fire.

"It was just an extremely large pile of hay," Ripp said.

Koshkonong Road was closed while crews worked to put the fire out.

Stoughton Fire Chief Joshua Ripp said 100,000 gallons of water were used on the fire.

The fire does not appear to be suspicious.
