    Motorcyclist dead after a crash in Walworth County Thursday

    LAFAYETTE, Wis.. -- A motorcyclist is dead after a crash in Walworth County Thursday afternoon.

    The Walworth County Sheriff's Office said the crash occurred at 12:28 p.m. on County Highway D and Townline at the entrance of Alpine Valley in the Town of Lafayette.

    Deputies and East Troy Fire Department located Maxwell J. Bayer, 31, of Franksville in a northwest ditch. Deputies attempted life-saving efforts and Bayer was transported to the East Troy Municipal Airport for an arriving Flight For Life Helicopter.

    Life-saving measures were unsuccessful and Bayer was pronounced dead at the airport.

    The driver of the vehicle involved in the crash is a 17-year-old from Eagle. He was uninjured.

    The crash remains under investigation by Deputies from the Walworth County Crash Investigation Unit.
