Hiawatha Music Festival sees big crowds for 2nd day
MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Day two of the three-day Hiawatha Music Festival saw big crowds and a lot of music. Organizers say the festival aims to encourage people to appreciate traditional American music. They do that by offering mainstage performances and various music workshops on the side. More than 20 bands and musicians play throughout the three days.

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Marquette’s Ellwood Mattson Park was crowded with cars Saturday. The second annual Upper Echelon Car Show began in the morning and ran all day. All makes and models were welcome to be registered and judged. Vehicles were placed into classes based on form, function, and speed.

Global technology outage has minimal impacts in Upper Peninsula
UPPER PENINSULA, Mich. (WLUC) - Friday’s technology outage caused by a faulty software update grounded flights and impacted hospital systems, government offices and other businesses worldwide; however, the Upper Peninsula emerged relatively unscathed. Delta County Airport Manager Robert Randstadler said the airport had minimal impacts from the global outage.

All of the lightning strikes were counted over Michigan. This count shows where we typically have the most lightning, and where we lit up the most last year. The data comes from the Vaisala U.S. National Lightning Detection Network (NLDN) and the Vaisala Global Lightning Dataset (GLD360). These two networks monitor in-cloud and cloud-to-ground lightning activity 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Together, they detect more than two billion lightning events worldwide every year.
