The Chapel Hill Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously approved calling a School Bond Election for May 4, 2024.

It has been 18 years since the last major investment in Chapel Hill ISD. In 2006, Chapel Hill ISD residents approved a bond to fund the Elementary Media Center, Multipurpose building and High School Science labs.

“We are so thankful to have the support of our community and board members,” said Chapel Hill ISD Superintendent Daniel Pritchett. “They recognize the value of the needs represented in this bond. These projects will go a long way in helping provide a better and safer environment for our students.”

Texas school districts do not receive state funding for renovating or building new schools. Instead, they must receive funds through school bond elections. The 2024 Bond will ask voters to consider a $9.3 million package in one proposition.

Proposition A is for $9.3 million and would include the following:

    • ElementaryPhysicalEducationGym

    • EarlyChildhoodClassrooms

    • AgMechExpansion

    • JuniorHighSecureEntrance Failing last year’s bond is projected to cost an estimated $600,000 more because of construction cost escalation. Passing a bond now will save taxpayers money because addressing needs today is cheaper than delaying them.

If voters approve $9.3 million for Proposition A in May, the estimated impact would be $8.25 per month for a home valued at $200,000.
