Highland Heights manufacturer wins $96M in trade secrets lawsuit
Highland Heights-based Prysmian Group, an electrical cable manufacturer, was awarded $96 million in a trade secrets lawsuit against a competitor. On Aug. 9, a South Carolina grand jury ruled in favor of Prysmian after a three-week trial in U.S. District Court in Columbia, South Carolina. The jury found that Sterlite Technologies was unjustly enriched by taking Prysmian’s trade secrets and awarded Prysmian $96.5 million in damages.

A new season, a new head coach and a new stadium press box. It’s what Chapin High School football fans were presented this past Friday at Cecil Woolbright Field. Prior to the start of the Chapin Kickoff Classic, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held by Lexington-Richland School District Five officials. After over a year of work, they were ready to put on display the completed work done on the $8.5 million stadium renovations project.
Greater Irmo Chamber celebrates 30 years
The Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce was born 30 years ago in July of 1994 from a group of local businessmen and women that met at Capri’s Italian Restaurant located in the Kroger Shopping Center on St. Andrews Rd. The business group was originally called the Irmo Business Association or IBA and boasted a membership close to 70. That night, on Wednesday, July 13, they voted to officially change the name to Greater Irmo Chamber of Commerce and towards the end of the first year total membership reached 170.
