As the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge celebrates 10 years, Connecticut continues tradition
MILFORD, Conn. — The summer of 2024 marks the 10th anniversary of the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, which brought amyotrophic lateral sclerosis international awareness. Since the challenge was started by Anthony Senerchia, Pat Quinn and Pete Frates in 2014, all of whom since passed away from the disease, the viral sensation has raised awareness and funds for ALS research and support services.

A voluntary recall of cucumbers and bagged salads sold in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut due to possible listeria contamination has been expanded to include additional produce.Earlier this month, Wiers Farm recalled whole cucumbers and bagged salads with pack dates of June 5 and June 6.While the products involved are past their shelf life, the recall has been expanded to others in response to an investigation.Products involved in the expanded recall were packed between July 5-12 and sold under the brand names Wiers Farm and Freshire Farms.According to the FDA, the move is being made out of an abundance...

Misguided Spirits’ James Zinkand, Co-founder, and Geena Zinkand, Partner, Marketing and Activations, were on-site to lead guests through an education and tasting of the line of artisanal spirits, ending with an industry happy hour with cocktails created by MeKayla Roy, Bar Manager, Union Kitchen, and the venue’s bar team. Launched in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2023 by Chad Wodskow and James Zinkand, Misguided Spirits is an employee-owned and -operated company specializing in craft spirits made by bartenders in honor of “misunderstood figures from the past.” The brand is distributed in Connecticut through Winebow.
