District Attorney Hoovler Announces Jury Trial Conviction in Maybrook Gun Case
Rudolph Davis Convicted of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. Represents 40th Felony Gun Possession Conviction in Orange County in the Last Year. Orange County District Attorney David M. Hoovler announced that on Friday, July 12, 2024, Rudolph Davis, age 31, of Newburgh, was convicted after a jury trial in the Orange County Court of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, the sole charge against him. Davis faces up to fifteen (15) years in prison when he is scheduled to be sentenced on October 17, 2024. Davis was remanded back to the Orange County Jail without bail following the jury’s verdict.

SM&NC Receives New Canaan Community Foundation in Support of Special Needs Programming. Launched in 2022 thanks to grant funding and community support, the SM&NC offers three different Animals for All program formats: Heckscher Farm Open Evenings, which allow families to explore the SM&NC’s beloved Heckscher Farm after-hours at their own pace, and the program duo Caring for Critters and Caring for Exotic Critters, which both provide opportunities to work with live animals in small group settings.

4 family friendly events fill Saturday calendar
The Peekskill Community Tennis Association, a newly formed local group, is hosting a free Community Tennis Day on Saturday July 20th from 10am – noon at the Depew Park tennis courts. Attendees from beginners to experts and everyone in between are invited to show up and join by bringing a racket, lots of water, and maybe even a chair to sit and relax when not on the court. Attendees will be able to practice tennis skills with a local tennis pro or take part in a friendly doubles round-robin. If you don’t know how to play, but have always been curious, show up and let the Peekskill Community Tennis Association teach about the ins and outs of the sport. If you don’t have a racket, no problem. The USTA has a few rackets that participants can borrow at the event. So even if you do not have one, you can join in the fun.
