Donations needed for new second floor space at local library
MARSHALL, Ill. (WTHI) - The Marshall Public Library is working to renovate its second floor. The Friends of the Library hope you'll help support the project through donations. The library is in the process of renovating a 2,000-square-foot space on its second floor. An elevator has been added to improve accessibility to the space. The newly designed floor will house the genealogy library as well as a public event and meeting space.

The painting of the Vandalia Statehouse is back at Vandalia City Hall. At the former Vandalia City Hall, the large painting of the Vandalia Statehouse was on the wall behind the council. But, when City Hall moved to its current location, the painting stayed in what is now the Vandalia Public Safety Building. But, with a new wall built at City Hall, the large painting of the Statehouse is back behind the council table. The painting was moved to City Hall on Monday.

Charleston Fire Dept. extinguishes downtown fire
CHARLESTON, Ill. (WCIA) — No one is hurt following a fire in downtown Charleston Tuesday afternoon that prompted a box alarm response. The fire happened around 1:30 p.m. in a three-story building at 6th Street and Monroe Avenue. Officials with the Charleston Fire Department said the building is a taxpayer-style building with a business on the first floor and apartments on the second and third floors.
