City of Meridian demolishes 89 abandoned buildings, condemns 25 more
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - In recent weeks and months, there have been many structure fires in Meridian, and often, the building that has caught on fire is abandoned. In the last three years, the city has demolished 89 buildings, some commercial and some residential, as a way to beautify the city while also making it safer.
22 students graduate from Mississippi State Fire Academy
PEARL, Miss. — Fire departments across the state welcomed 22 new graduates from the Mississippi State Fire Academy. Graduates had to go through seven weeks of intensive training and tests to prepare for the job. Throughout this training, they gained knowledge in areas of fire suppression, rescue and more.
