April 10, 2024 Landmark Construction Company, a leading heavy civil construction firm, is proud to announce its involvement in Project Connect in Blythewood, SC.

Landmark bid and was awarded the full sitework package for Project Connect by Richland County’s Construction Manager, T&H Design/Build. Spanning 1600 acres, the project includes mass grading, erosion control, installation of stormwater utilities, and the procurement of stone for building pads, laydown areas, and roads. Landmark will move roughly 25 million cubic yards of dirt and utilize over 500,000 tons of stone, highlighting the company’s capacity for large-scale, complex construction endeavors.

Innovation and sustainability are at the forefront of Project Connect’s execution. Landmark will employ cutting-edge technologies, including autonomous compactors, to enhance operational efficiency while minimizing environmental impact. Additionally, the project team will utilize advanced surveying equipment, including drones, to ensure precision and accuracy in construction tasks. Landmark’s COO, Anthony Garcia, emphasized the connection between this project and the company’s vision, saying, “Project Connect underscores Landmark’s commitment to safety, quality, production, and our company’s growth and expansion initiatives beyond the Charleston Market.”

The impact of Project Connect extends beyond construction with multiple anticipated benefits for the local community and economy. The project is already generating employment opportunities for local contractors and, upon completion, is expected to create approximately 4,000 jobs in the Blythewood and Columbia areas. Plans for infrastructure improvements, including a new interchange and road reconstructions by SCDOT, will further bolster economic development in the region.

“We are honored to be part of Project Connect, a project that not only showcases our expertise in heavy civil construction but also contributes to the economic vitality of the Blythewood community,” said Brandon Farrell, Project Manager at Landmark Construction.
