New American Tavern Coming to North Central Charleston

A new American tavern is set to grace 601 Meeting St Suite 140 in North Central Charleston . The Archer will occupy the ground floor of the Meeting Street Lofts , taking over the 2,000-square-foot space once inhabited by Gale Restaurant.

Owned by Elizabeth and Marc Hudacsko , who also helm the nearby Berkeley’s restaurant, The Archer aims to offer a blend of “classy cocktails, badass tunes, and genuine hospitality,” as noted on the eatery’s Instagram page . While sharing similarities with Berkeley’s, The Archer will present a more refined dining experience.

According to The Post and Courier , the Hudacskos have enlisted former Three Sirens and Butcher & Bee chef Paul Farmer to craft dishes that evoke feelings of nostalgia while also pushing culinary boundaries. Anticipate a menu that balances familiar flavors with inventive flair, ranging from classic favorites like burgers to more adventurous creations such as truffle and foie gras doughnut holes.

The wood-fired oven, a legacy of Gale, will play a central role in Farmer’s culinary vision, transforming proteins and vegetables into enticing offerings that reflect The Archer’s unique identity.

Under the guidance of Jimmy Chmielewski , known for his work at Proof and Estadio, The Archer’s cocktail program promises a fusion of classic and contemporary. Patrons can indulge in a variety of libations, ranging from traditional beer, wine, and cocktails to trendier beverages like espresso martinis.

The Hudacskos are eyeing a mid-summer opening for The Archer, where dinner will be served from 4 to 11 p.m., with refreshments flowing until midnight. Additionally, brunch will be offered on Saturdays and Sundays to cater to the weekend crowd.
