CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – U.S. Coast Guard Charleston rescued a disabled vessel Friday about 24 miles offshore from Charleston with three people on board in need of assistance.

Officials say Sector Charleston issued a Marine Assistance Request Broadcast (MARB) on behalf of the disabled vehicle to solicit voluntary assistance, but no help was found.

Commercial towing providers were also unable to issue assistance due to multiple tow requests in the area.

Authorities say the Coast Guard boat crew assisted and placed the 27-foot vessel in tow and safely transported the mariners to Charleston City Marina.
