CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Ronald McDonald House Charities of Charleston received a special donation Tuesday thanks to ‘Happy Meals’ purchased this past spring.

“Local McDonald’s owner/operators got together and decided it was time to raise some money for the house,” said Ryan Booth, local McDonald’s owner/operator.

During the week of April 22, the owner/operators of Charleston-area McDonald’s restaurants decided to donate 10% of all ‘Happy Meal’ sales to the Ronald McDonald House.

“In one week, we raised $19,000,” said Rodney Henry, McDonald’s owner-operator. That money was presented to the charity at its downtown Charleston location on Tuesday morning.

Donations to the Ronald McDonald House help to give families with hospitalized children a place to stay, meals, and comfort. The house is open and full every night.
