    Back-to-School Drives in the Lowcountry, Where to find free school supplies

    CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Back-to-school season is approaching, and the Lowcountry has an abundance of back-to-school drives offering free supplies for those who need them.

    Here’s where to find those resources in your community:

    Town of Ravenel – Back to School Giveaway

    The Town of Ravenel is holding a back-to-school giveaway which includes backpacks and other school supplies. Town officials say various of food trucks will be at this bash and fun games for all to enjoy! This event is scheduled for Saturday, August 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Ravenel Hall.

    The Ravenel Hall is located at 5700 Conners Street.

    Charleston County Parks’ Back to School Bash

    The Charleston County Parks is hosting a bash to bring in the new school year. The county will have school supply giveaways, DJ performances, jump castles, festival foods and more. The event will be held at the Lincoln Regional Center in McClellanville on August 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

    The Lincoln Regional Center is located at 714 Lincoln Road.

    Every 1 Voice Matters – Back to School Bash

    Every 1 Voice Matters is hosting its 7th Annual Back to School Event and is offering mega giveaways. Officials say they are giving 1,000 backpacks filled with school supplies, 200 new sneakers, 200 new uniforms, academic assessments, and free haircuts.

    This bash will also include fun activities for children, including Skate Boss, jump castles, game trucks, face painting, and more. Officials say free hot dogs and drinks will also be provided by the North Charleston Police Department.

    This event is scheduled for Sunday, August 11 from 12 to 3 p.m. at 3659 W Montague Ave in North Charleston.

    North Charleston Police Department – Supply Drive

    The North Charleston Police Department is hosting a ‘It’s Cool to be in School’ supply drive to ensure every child is prepared for the upcoming school year. The agency says school supplies will be given away while supplies last. Free food and games will also be available at the drive.

    The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the North Charleston Sports Complex.

    New Life Christian Fellowship Church – Back to School Bash

    New Life Christian Fellowship Church will be having a back-to-school bash filled with giveaways, games, free haircuts, and jump castles. Church officials say 300 free bookbags K-8th will be given away at the event.

    The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 358 Liberty Hall Rd.

    OneBerkeley – Back to School Festival

    OneBerkeley will host a back-to-school drive stuffed with free school supplies that will be available on a first come first serve basis. The district says they will be giving out 3,500 pre-filled bookbags stuffed with supplies to families. Officials say parents must have school-aged children with them to receive a bag.

    The event will be held on Saturday, August 3 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Moncks Corner Regional Recreational Complex.
